primerefrigerant is the trading name of Thomas Brian Walton, a small independent wooden toy maker based in London, United Kingdom.

Every toy we sell is handmade in our home workshop and shipped directly to you across the United Kingdom. There is no warehouse, no production line, and no middleman. What you order is made, checked, packed, and sent by the same pair of hands that built it.

Our Story

Hello, I'm Thomas Brian Walton, the founder and maker behind primerefrigerant.

primerefrigerant grew out of something simple: a passion for woodworking and a belief that children deserve better than plastic. Long before this store existed, I was making wooden toys at home. What started as something personal, made for family and gifted to people close to me, gradually found a wider audience. Friends asked where the toys came from. Word spread locally. Orders followed.

Over time it became clear that what I was making had real value—not just to me, but to parents who were actively looking for something more considered than what the high street tends to offer. That is when primerefrigerant became a proper store. The craft was already there. The decision was simply to share it more widely.

Why Wooden Toys

I firmly believe that the toys children grow up with matter. Wooden toys encourage imagination, support early development, and build a connection to the physical world that plastic simply cannot replicate.

They have texture, weight, and a warmth that children naturally respond to. They are also made to last. A well-crafted wooden toy can be passed from one child to the next, enjoyed for years, and treasured by families.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything I do. I use natural materials and avoid unnecessary plastic wherever possible. Every toy is handcrafted from real wood and carefully hand-sanded before leaving my workshop.

How We Work

Everything is made to order in my home workshop in London.

Each toy is carefully shaped, hand-sanded, inspected, and packed before being dispatched via Royal Mail Tracked 48.

I offer free shipping throughout the United Kingdom, Monday to Friday, with same-day processing for orders placed before 6:00 PM.

Before any toy leaves my workshop, it is personally inspected. If it does not meet my standards, it simply does not get shipped.

I personally respond to every enquiry within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, and I take pride in providing friendly, personal customer service from start to finish.
